AnimateDiff is a plug-and-play motion module that turns an existing Stable Diffusion 1.5 or SDXL image checkpoint into a short-video generator, without retraining the base model. A 2023 technique that predates today's native video DiTs, it remains the go-to lightweight option for animation on low-VRAM GPUs, and is most commonly run today through the ComfyUI-AnimateDiff-Evolved nodes — reusing the existing SD LoRA and ControlNet ecosystem.
